Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
As a Steering System Engineer, you will be responsible to ensure that system engineering methods are applied during the creation, development, assessment, and verification of steering systems. The Steering Systems Engineer is responsible for specifying steering system requirements, analysis, benchmarking, development, test procedures, issue resolution, and verification to ensure our front and rear steering systems are world-class and exceed our customers’ expectations.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Develop and manage systems engineering deliverables (e.g., System Technical Specifications, DFMEA, HAZOP) and link them to subsystems.

Define, model, simulate, and test system requirements to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Communicate system requirements and issues to internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturing.

Promote feature commonization to reduce complexity.

Ensure all requirements are captured in the validation plan, understood by the validation team, and released in ETM.

Integrate new steering systems and features into future vehicle architectures.

Support vehicle development, integration, and performance activities for front and rear steering features.

Identify and resolve integration and performance issues throughout the development cycle.

Contribute to feature and system test procedure development.

Support sourcing activities through specification development and supplier technical reviews.

Conduct competitive benchmarking to inform feature and system performance requirements.

Assist with Advanced Technology Work (ATW) projects.

Stay current on emerging technologies and competitive products.

Support ride trips, clinics, and address assembly plant and field issues.
