Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Nurse Manager of Emergency Services you will be responsible for planning, administering, and evaluating the operations of the Emergency Department. You will collaborate with physicians to expedite information and manage throughput on cases ranging from minor injuries to acutely or critically ill patients. Our team works together and supports each other like family. We are looking for someone who has a passion for providing excellent patient care and has the ability to lead, coach and mentor our skilled ER staff. In this Manager role:
- You will have experience with role modeling and sustaining patient and family centered care and direct staff as they triage, assess and treat patients of all ages
- You will demonstrate the ability to manage and coordinate patient care, maintaining departmental flow and directing the staff assignments as needed.
- You will work with the Director on department staffing; hiring, evaluating, guiding, disciplining, and scheduling of staff.
- You will act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure
- You will develop and communicate a shared vision for the department consistent with the hospitals vision.
- You will be skilled at identifying the strengths and weaknesses of staff performance and work with them on training and development accordingly.
- You will have the ability to effectively coordinate functions with staff, physicians and other departments of the hospital with a focus on throughput based on the patient’s needs.
What qualifications you will need:
- Current Alaska nursing license in good standing
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience working in the ER as a registered nurse with 2 or more years of experience in a supervisory setting
- Associate’s Degree in nursing required, Bachelors within 3 years of hire.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS) within six months of hire
- Maintains appropriate certifications (TNCC, ENPC, PALS, ETC)
