Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum.
Travel
Travel requirements vary by project, up to 50%. All conveyor engineers may support execution projects with monthly travel obligations.
The Role
The Conveyor Mechanical Execution Engineer is responsible for the installation, operation, and optimization of manufacturing conveyor systems across GM facilities in accordance with industry and GM standards. This role involves supporting layout development, integrating plant floor workstations with conveyor systems, and driving lean concepts to minimize total costs while enhancing material presentation for assembly operations.
The engineer will receive on-the-job training from a senior conveyor engineer and will manage multiple plant and project assignments. Responsibilities include developing project schedules, managing budgets, coordinating cross-functional teams, and understanding the integrated supplier model. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering or plant environment, requiring creativity, initiative, and independent judgment.
What You'll Do

Execute complex conveyor projects, including engineering, fabrication, installation, and start-up across GM assembly plants in North America.

Lead multiple conveyor projects, ensuring compliance with GM standards and safety requirements.

Develop project timelines and manage financial aspects of conveyor execution.

Collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers, and plant personnel to resolve operational challenges.

Apply lean design principles to optimize conveyor systems and support material presentation for assembly operations.

Utilize GM standard documentation and ensure adherence to conveyor specifications.

Generate technical solutions for conveyor challenges and track project deliverables to ensure timely completion.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, project management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Proficient in reading, interpreting, and developing conveyor layouts.

Strong analytical skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with team members and customers.

Proficient with computers, engineering drawings, and adaptable to new software systems.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Experience as a conveyor engineer or in manufacturing/maintenance roles.

Strong knowledge of process engineering disciplines, including plant layouts, process requirements, throughput, and simulation, particularly in Body, Paint, and General Assembly.

Proven project management experience.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and FactoryCAD, with the ability to create and modify designs.

Familiarity with NX software or general awareness of its applications.
