The Jr. Enterprise Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of the program systems. Engineer will oversee the program’s Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) full-time, at a client site. Engineer will build scripts, provide expert technical assistance to team members, and build and patch servers (Linux and Windows). Engineer should have excellent networking skills, including an understanding of IP Schema, scripting, hardware, and other aspects of building a network and maintaining systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and deploy functional servers on Linux and Windows operating systems
- Maintain system compliance with cyber security standards and practices
- Use Autocad to create maps and update drawings of building floor plans
- Monitor system performance and integrity
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
- Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery, etc.)
- Communicate appropriately and professionally with users when needed
- Maintain complete technical documentation
- Suggest improvements to performance, capacity, and scalability
- Experience installing and maintaining network equipment and cabling
Desired Requirements
- Preferred 2 years of direct industry-related experience as a Jr. Systems Engineer; or have knowledge comparable to a Jr. Systems Engineer/Architect.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD to view, print, and navigate existing 2D and 3D drawings (.dwg files)
- Experience in maintaining compliance with cybersecurity standards and frameworks
- Professional certification(s) (e.g. - Security+ Network+)
- Solid background in systems engineering and maintenance
- In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly ICMP, TCP/IP) and routing protocols
- In-depth understanding of deploying Elasticsearch on Linux in a clustered environment
- Familiarity with virtualization (ESXi, vCente, VmWare)
- Familiarity with access control models and network security
- Solid understanding of server operating systems (Ubuntu 18.04, Windows)
- Knowledge in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related engineering field (or, at least 2 years of direct experience working as a network engineer)
- Understanding of basic Cisco switching functions (configuring access and trunk ports)
Additional Requirements
- Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with poly level of clearance and the ability to maintain clearance
- The ability to work proficiently with minimal oversight
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, and carry at least 15lbs of equipment
- Some tasks will require the ability to walk extensively throughout facilities during a workday.
- Requires the ability to climb stepladders, and stairs as needed during a workday.
- Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat, kneel, reach/stretch, and move in a 90-degree fashion during workday.
- Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
- Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
