The Opportunity:
KBR is seeking an experienced Technical Advisor specialising in Configuration Management to join our dynamic team supporting the Armoured Fighting Vehicle Branch at MILVECHOE in Redbank Plains, QLD.
This role involves managing the configuration of complex Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) and associated systems— including combat platforms, electronic systems, subsystems, and support equipment—throughout acquisition, modification, and sustainment phases.
You will provide guidance on configuration management principles, ensuring the integrity, traceability, and control of engineering information and hardware/software baselines in accordance with Defence acquisition frameworks (including ASDEFCON, ISO 10007, MIL-STD-973).
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advice on Configuration Management (CM) for Armoured Fighting Vehicles and related Defence systems.
- Develop and manage CM plans, tools, and processes aligned with Defence standards.
- Maintain records for Configuration Items and support Change Control Boards.
- Work closely with teams, contractors, and government to ensure compliance and system assurance.
- Support engineering reviews, audits, and certification with accurate CM documentation.
- Help improve CM systems and mentor junior staff.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Experience in Configuration Management within Defence or similar industries.
- Knowledge of Defence CM standards (ASDEFCON, ISO 10007, MIL-STD-973).
- Skilled with CM software like Teamcenter, Windchill, or IBM Rational.
- Ability to read and manage technical drawings and system specs.
- Understanding of Defence acquisition and lifecycle processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills.
- Relevant engineering or technical qualifications.
- Current NV1 security clearance or higher
