Job Description: General Superintendent
This role, based out of our Annapolis Junction office, includes occasional travel and OCONUS assignments. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented General Construction Manager (CM) / Superintendent to lead daily operations and ensure the successful execution of construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, exceptional organizational expertise, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations, ensuring superintendents have the tools, materials, and resources needed to meet deadlines and maintain steady progress. Act as a mentor, training and guiding Construction Managers to improve project coordination and execution. Take direct leadership of projects as needed, managing all phases from start to finish across multiple sites.
- Field Construction Collaboration and Support
Work closely with the customer's field construction managers to thoroughly understand their roles and responsibilities. Foster clear communication to comprehend their involvement in the project and ensure they are fully supported in achieving the required outcomes. Coordinate efforts to guarantee that the needs of the customer's team are met effectively by our field crew and on-site construction manager. This collaboration aims to align all parties, address any on-site challenges promptly, and deliver results that meet or exceed expectations.
- Material Coordination and Logistics:
Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to secure materials necessary for projects, ensuring timely procurement and availability. Coordinate the delivery and return of containers while managing ISP revisions and adjusting delivery dates as required. Communicate accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) lists in advance to facilitate efficient container loading for various projects, ensuring smooth operations across all phases.
Monitor project schedules to ensure all timelines stay on track. Review daily progress reports to verify tasks are completed as planned and address any delays proactively.
Efficiently allocate manpower across multiple projects to maximize productivity. Ensure workers meet required hours, adjusting resources as necessary to maintain project momentum.
Conduct interviews and assist in hiring top-tier talent to build a skilled and dependable workforce that drives project success.
Prepare initial estimates for project modifications and change orders. Collaborate with the Program Manager and Assistant Project Manager to create and submit accurate RFIs and official change order documents.
- Submittals and Shop Drawings:
Review and submit product data, shop drawings, and material documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and accuracy in execution.
- Material Preparation and Delivery:
Develop detailed material and tool lists to streamline workforce deployment. Oversee the loading and shipment of containers to project sites on both the East and West Coasts, ensuring timely delivery.
Identify and secure local subcontractors and vendors while integrating them into the cost management system. Obtain competitive procurement options for equipment such as dumpsters, cranes, and forklifts to avoid delays and manage costs effectively.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
Work closely with Local Construction Networks (LCNs) to define project scopes and subcontractor agreements. Build strong relationships with OCONUS companies to secure competitive pricing and streamline operations.
Address unexpected project needs and provide on-demand procurement support to ensure smooth project execution.
- General Superintendent Support During Limited Projects
When projects are minimal and not available for the position to be fully executed, the General Superintendent will work as a tradesperson on projects until more work is available to assist in this role. Additionally, the General Superintendent may provide assistance with estimating projects and searching out new endeavors or new opportunities for the company to bid on or take on. This approach helps ensure continuous contribution to the company's operations while proactively seeking growth and sustainability during periods of limited projects.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Extensive experience in construction management, workforce coordination, and scheduling
- Expertise in preparing and submitting submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Strong knowledge of project logistics, including material sourcing and shipment oversight
- Proficiency in vendor management and subcontractor coordination
- Bachelor’s degree or 15+ years of relevant experience in the construction industry
- Must have TS/SCI
- 5 days/40 hours – OT -Y
- Out of Annapolis Junction, MD will travel to different projects.
The base salary range for this position is $60.00/hour. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or certifications.
