Your Impact
The Principal Accountant will manage Sales and Use Tax audits and Real Property tax appeals for Lowe’s. This role serves as the primary liaison with auditors and external attorneys, ensuring accurate and timely responses while minimizing assessments. The position requires strong technical tax knowledge, research skills, and the ability to develop clear, defensible arguments in support of the company’s positions.
What You Will Do
- Serve as the main point of contact for state and local Sales and Use Tax auditors.
- Provide requested data, explanations, and documentation to auditors and attorneys.
- Review auditor workpapers to identify errors and reduce proposed assessments.
- Research Sales and Use Tax laws, regulations, and case law to support company positions.
- Coordinate with external attorneys on Real Property tax appeals by gathering and analyzing financial and property data.
- Partner with internal teams (Accounting, Finance, Legal, Operations) to collect, validate, and deliver information.
- Prepare clear and accurate communications for internal stakeholders and external authorities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Intermediate to Advanced skills in MS office programs (Excel, Word, Access)
Preferred Qualifications
Lowe's finance or accounting experience
4+ years’ experience in Tax (public or private)
Knowledge/skills working with various tax compliance tools.
