About your role:
As a member of the mid-range operations and maintenance team for the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS), your primary responsibility is to ensure the continuous good health of the production EFTPS applications. You will work closely with the development team to manage fixes, design, and implement application build and deployment solutions. Your role is crucial in maintaining proper monitoring, scalability, and resiliency across all environments from test to production.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and participate in monthly OS patching, primarily in Linux, Unix, and AIX.
- Support applications using JAVA (ability to read code, not develop), Unix, SQL, deployment utilities, and systems administration.
- Document technical manuals, playbooks, and coordinate inter-departmental activities.
- Manage the operations and monitoring of applications and infrastructure from development to production.
- Ensure all environments meet scalability and resiliency requirements.
- Support both customer-facing and internal applications.
- Monitor submitted tickets; assign, escalate, and communicate as required.
- Participate in rotating on-call support duties.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- 6+ years of experience supporting enterprise-level applications and their infrastructure.
- 5+ years of experience patching Linux, Unix, or AIX operating systems.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience with API architecture, java applications, and IBM Websphere.
- Experience troubleshooting issues by examining only log files, an understanding of network architecture for distributed systems,
- Working knowledge of SQL and procedural SQL, IBM’s Sterling File Gateway, IBM’s DevOpsDeploy deployment tool, Splunk, Dynatrace, Service Now, and Moogsoft.
- Experience with Windows Server 2022 operating system, Microsoft IIS, and .NET.
