About your role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our IT team who will be responsible for managing and optimizing Linux-based systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Linux system administration and experience working in a highly complex enterprise environment.
What you’ll do:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based operating systems and perform regular system updates and patches of Redhat/Oracle Enterprise Linux using satellite server, spacewalk, ansible, or tanium
- Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all the Linux client/server devices
- Participate in patching compliance, system and performance monitoring, certificate management and automation of systems
- Document ESX(i) and Linux systems, operational procedures for all audit compliance requirements (patching, PKI, NTP, logging, user access, lifecycle review, etc…)
- Implement configuration management tools like Ansible to streamline system management while performing automation scripting
- Troubleshoot Linux Servers and Workstations, perform root cause analysis, modifying configurations, diagnosing network and storage issues, scripting, and other tasks as needed
- Recommend Redhat/Oracle Enterprise Linux best practice configurations for Server OS
- Harden platform frameworks such as CIS and be able to discuss top hardening concerns at a detailed level
Experience you’ll need to have:
- 6+ years of experience administering/engineering Linux operating systems, including command-line at an enterprise proficiency level
- 3+ years of experience administrating various Linux platforms with a focus on Redhat Enterprise Linux 7-9, some Oracle Enterprise Linux, CentOS, and SUSE Linux
- 3+ years of experience with Linux scripting languages (bash, perl, python, etc…)
- 3 +years of experience working with Ansible
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience
Experience that would be great to have:
- Relevant certifications, such as Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- Experience with virtualization and cloud technologies such as VMWare and Azure
- Understanding of networking principles
How you’ll work::
- This role requires being on-call during non-standard and/or overnight hours on a rotational basis
- This role requires the use of a computer and audio equipment
