Join our Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) raw materials and processing team, where innovation drives advancements in state-of-the-art CMCs for commercial and military aerospace applications. As a technician, you will collaborate closely with engineers and specialists to execute critical tasks related to CMC slurry, prepreg, and tow characterization and fabrication within a dynamic lab environment. Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Execute detailed tasks following standard operating procedures and technical documentation in a laboratory setting.
- Operate and troubleshoot raw material processing equipment, including tape winders, roller mills, tape casters, rheology equipment, and furnaces, to support CMC tape and slurry development and production efforts.
- Mix chemicals to create various slurry and tape compositions, perform measurements, and characterize properties to ensure quality and consistency.
- Conduct in-process measurements and material characterization tests (e.g., slurry and tape properties) with precision and attention to detail.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and specialists to provide feedback on planning, execution, and results, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support lab and equipment maintenance activities to uphold safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) standards.
- Document data accurately and thoroughly in appropriate forms and systems.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and technologies, adapting to evolving processes and requirements.
- Handle chemicals safely and perform tasks such as slurry mixing, tape winding, and characterization in compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Operate and maintain raw material processing equipment to deliver high-quality CMC tape and slurry for development and production efforts.
- Ensure compliance with GE policies, procedures, and directives, including environmental and safety practices.
- Assist in managing materials test programs and provide detailed feedback to engineers and specialists.

- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a relevant laboratory environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and Oral skills
- Ability to document and plan tasks or sub-tasks
- Composite manufacturing, materials, or processing experience
- HAZMAT experience
- Willing to cross-train in other types of composites
