The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Software Engineer to build and implement functional programs. You will work with other Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Project Managers throughout the software development life cycle. The Software Engineer is required to be a team player and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development cycle, ensure relevant processes are followed, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Depending on experience, the Software Engineer can expect to support a range of applications, including programs, processes, networks, upgrades, patches, migrations, DevOps, and testing. Experience in Agile and/or SAFe frameworks is required, as well as familiarity with popular coding languages.
The Software Engineer will engage with clients, KBR staff, and other stakeholders to support the development lifecycle, and a working knowledge of ITSM processes is preferred. A strong technical knowledge about key Defence platforms, applications, and systems in use across relevant Defence groups and services is also considered beneficial. The role requires a high degree of collaboration to develop solutions that will ultimately promote growth and capability development in the Mission IT and Security Solutions line of business.
This role suits someone who is independent, resourceful, and solutions-focused — an engineer who doesn’t need their hand held, can investigate and resolve issues, identify underlying problems, and proactively find their own answers.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
Proven experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or similar role
Familiarity with Agile and/or SAFe development methodologies
Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment
Strong proficiency in Java development (C experience is advantageous)
Knowledge of coding languages and frameworks such as JavaScript, AngularJS, and Git
Experience with databases and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks
Ability to learn new languages and technologies
Independent problem-solving skills and the ability to find answers with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills
NV1 Security clearance (with ability to upgrade to NV2 if required)

BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and commensurate certifications with relevant professional body
