Job Description
As the Director of Global Procurement, you’ll be at the forefront of enterprise-wide transformation—driving resiliency and trade-based strategies across every division and multiple functions across Caterpillar.
This senior leadership role offers high visibility across the organization, including direct collaboration with product engineering teams, procurement leaders, and executive leadership. You’ll lead high-impact initiatives that deliver long-term resiliency across key product offerings while navigating complex trade and tariff landscapes.
This role is part of Caterpillar’s Strategic Procurement & Planning Division. The SPPD division is responsible for designing, developing, and connecting world-class capabilities to create value across the entire ecosystem – from the supply base through Caterpillar’s manufacturing process – to connect with our dealers and customers.
What You’ll Lead:
- Enterprise Strategy Deployment: Align resiliency and supply strategies across global divisions.
- Supply Chain Resiliency: Deliver a more agile and robust supply network by developing best-in-class resiliency tools and processes.
- Supply Trade Leadership: Lead best practice development for supply related trade dynamics.
- Critical Projects: Spearhead core product facing initiatives that lay a resilient foundation for any future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion the strategic development of supply resiliency across the enterprise.
- Serve as business process owner for resiliency tools and standard work.
- Lead core offering resiliency projects that impact global operations.
- Drive trade forecasting and best practices, coordinating enterprise-wide responses to global supply events.

What You Bring (Skills and Experience):
Strategic Sourcing: Extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management. Industrial manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
Ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.
Organizational Leadership: Proven experience managing a team, with a strong understanding of leadership principles and the ability to apply strategies and skills that inspire others to set, embrace, and achieve shared objectives.
Effective Communications: Capable of engaging with diverse organizational levels, including C-suite executives, to ensure alignment and clarity across stakeholders.
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Business Intelligence: Knowledge of business intelligence; ability to utilize business processes and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data that helps the organization make better business decisions.
Category Management: Knowledge of category management within an organization's goods and services sector; ability to use this knowledge to analyze and improve the end-to-end procurement process and maximize business profitability.
Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience desired.
Additional Information:
- This position is based out of Peoria, IL and is on-site five days a week.
- This position may require up to 30 % travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$185,400.00 - $278,160.00
