Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC or Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
GM Motorsports is developing and supporting electronic systems to support our growing Sports Car Racing platforms as well as F1 and production car environments. You will work with GM engineering to develop state of the art electronic systems and actively support the systems at racetracks, virtual environments, and test facilities.
What You’ll Do

Collaborate with multiple GM groups and partners supporting the Sports Car racing programs to design, develop, test and support electronic systems for vehicle functionality and performance. This role could expand into supporting NASCAR, IndyCar, F1, and have collaboration with production car environments

Perform electronic system integration and tests on and off car through simulation, track, and bench testing

Travel to domestic and international events to develop and support electronic systems including hardware, software and tools

Embed with a Sports Car racing team providing front line support and act as a communication conduit to the greater GM Motorsports organization

Manage a dynamic workload to ensure GM race teams perform at the highest level

Support virtual development and simulation environments including SiL, HiL and DiL
What You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science.

3 or more years of engineering experience following the completion of a degree.

Demonstrated proficiency in automotive electronics

Demonstrated proficiency in automotive electronic systems with specific knowledge on CAN, ethernet, electrical architecture and telemetry.

Demonstrated proficiency in team support at the racetrack.

Ability to balance multiple projects efficiently, including prioritization and working to tight deadlines.

Strong collaboration skills and ability to navigate relationships with external partners.

Ability to efficiently document customer requirements, identify methods to integrate into existing framework, translate into functional solutions and validate changes.

Deliver high quality work products by utilizing a variety of test methodologies and environments including software in the loop (SiL), hardware in the loop (HiL) and driver in the loop (DiL).

Ability to present data clearly and concisely; examples will be requested.

High proficiency in problem solving, methodically finding, and solving issue root causes, especially in high stress environments.

Strong communication skills are a must as you will be working with team members at remote locations frequently.

This position will require travel to support the full race season plus additional tests and race team visits. Expected travel to be 10-15 weeks per year.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Demonstrated proficiency in motorsports electronics including Bosch, Cosworth, McLaren, Motec, etc.

Endurance racing experience in a series such as IMSA, WEC, ELMS, etc.

Hybrid racing experience such as LMDh, LMH, or F1.

Experience working with SiL, HiL, and DiL simulation environments.
