Shift: Alternate between 1st and 2nd based on operational need
Position Summary:
The Discharge Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring timely, high-quality environmental services within a dynamic healthcare setting. This position oversees daily operations, motivates frontline teams, and drives service excellence to support patient throughput and satisfaction. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Discharge Manager is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and responsive environment across hospital facilities, with a strong focus on discharge room readiness and customer service. Ideal candidates bring a proactive mindset, strong leadership skills, and a passion for supporting healthcare operations through efficient and compassionate service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the Environmental Services team to maintain a clean, safe, and customer-focused environment across healthcare facilities.
- Act as shift lead in the absence of the Operations Manager, providing direction, motivation, and guidance to staff.
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset and respond to service requests with urgency and professionalism.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and ensure training and recertification programs are completed on schedule.
- Manage departmental inventory, equipment maintenance, and vendor relationships; schedule repairs as needed.
- Prepare and submit accurate operational reports (daily, monthly, etc.) as required, adjusting frequency per leadership direction.
- Maintain compliance with internal policies, union agreements, and regulatory standards relevant to healthcare operations.
- Respond to emergencies and support operational needs during nights and weekends as required.
- Foster a respectful, team-oriented work culture and collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in Environmental Services, preferably within a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive process improvements, and uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety in patient care environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset; able to interact effectively with hospital staff, patients, and leadership.
- Experience with inventory management, equipment maintenance, and vendor coordination.
- Flexibility to respond to emergencies and work variable shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
