The M&PT Team is looking for a associate, mid-level or senior Low Observable, Materials and Process Engineers to provide Materials and Process, Research & Development and Program Support to Boeing Defense Systems proprietary programs.
We are also responsible for leading materials development efforts (typically non-metallic) as well as identifying, developing, transitioning, and sustaining specialty and stealth materials and technologies to platforms within Boeing Defense Systems. Position Responsibilities:
Provide Materials and Process Engineering support to Development Programs with focus on survivability and specialty materials to minimize radar, infrared and electromagnetic signatures of aerospace systems.
Research and develop advanced materials that enhance the stealth characteristics and survivability of aircraft
Make routine contact with customers, teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined integrated product team, working alongside other skilled technicians, engineers, and support staff
Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products
Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes
Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations
Promotes standardization across business activities
Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
Develops and qualifies new tools, equipment, materials, parts, processes and suppliers to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate
Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
Travel to subcontractor locations to review processes and assess compliance with requirements
Conducts analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes
Disseminates results and status to project stakeholders
Interface with government, external and internal customers
Support or lead non-conformances, corrective actions, fleet impact assessments, notice of escapes
Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
Able to positively interact with a wide range of personnel in design, fabrication, and testing of prototypes and aircraft parts and systems, including suppliers
Travel up to 10%
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
This position requires ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience or Master’s degree (Level 2) OR Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience or Master’s degree and 3+ years (Level 3) OR Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years’ experience or Master’s degree and 7+ years (Level 4)
1+ years’ experience working in materials and processes
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):
Experience with aerospace materials and process specifications
Experience with low observable and survivability materials and processes
Experience with the evaluation and qualification of materials, suppliers, equipment, technology and processes
Experience with Composite Materials, Coatings, Sealants, or Sub-Systems Materials and Process
Experience reading/interpreting engineering drawings
Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to effectively work within an Integrated Product Team environment
Comfortable working in an environment of change and in support of multiple programs, internal and external customers, technical challenges, and deadlines
Experienced reading drawings and using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.)

Summary Pay Range (Level 2): $77,350 - $104,650
Summary Pay Range (Level 3): $95,200 - $128,800
Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $116,450 - $157,550
