DefinitionUnder general direction, performs analytical duties in support of the ongoing development and enhancement of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications as well as other specialized departmental computer software, and peripheral equipment; collaborates with department management and functional users to identify opportunities to improve business process automation; recommends system and equipment changes for increased efficiency and effectiveness; coordinates with information technology services (ITS) staff regarding desired enhancements, modifications, and upgrades to systems and applications; and performs other related duties as assigned.SupervisionWorks under the direct supervision of a department manager.Does not directly or indirectly supervise other employees but may provide work direction to lower-level employees, temporary employees, and/or student workers. Work ScheduleMonday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are typical of those performed in this classification.Performs analytical duties in support of the ongoing development and enhancement of ERP applications as well as other specialized departmental, software and peripheral equipment.Collaborates with department management and functional users to identify opportunities to improve business process automation; develops data collection and workflow processes; analyzes and documents desired or needed changes to functional and business specifications.Recommends system changes for increased efficiency and effectiveness; presents recommendations and project requirements to management.Coordinates with ITS staff regarding desired enhancements, modifications, and upgrades to systems and applications pertaining to areas such as user work processes, system functionality requirements, and current system functions; recommends requirements for new systems and/or enhancements to existing systems in collaboration with department management, ensuring that system designs will meet user needs.Coordinates and performs system application testing; troubleshoots system problems after release changes and/or upgrades and partners with ITS staff to make changes in configurations to resolve errors; serves as the liaison between departmental users and ITS staff in the analysis, design, functional configuration, testing, and maintenance of the system.Maintains and updates reference tables within data management systems.Provides technical assistance and training on data management system functions and operations to faculty and department employees.Writes and maintains detailed, easy to understand procedures and process guides for technology related projects for end users.May troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application problems; refers technical issues to the ITS department as appropriate.Designs and prepares system queries and technical reports related to departmental operations.May coordinate document imaging functions for the assigned area.May maintain department webpages. May provide work direction to lower-level employees, temporary employees, and/or student workers. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
SalaryThe Data Operations Analyst classification’s current salary range is R-43. Starting salary is from Step 1: $6,770.81 to Step 3: $7,464.82 per month depending upon education and experience.
