Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Performance Analysis and Evaluation Thermal group is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Technician.
The primary responsibility of this role as a Battery Lab Technician in Performance Analysis and Evaluation Thermal group is to support the development of battery cell technology.
Reporting to the Technician Supervisor, the person in this role will support the Performance Analysis and Battery Cell group’s department objective’s to safely and accurately collect and report data, to support vehicle development for North American Customers.
What you’ll be doing
Operate within a laboratory setting to handle raw battery cell materials in support of research and development activities.
Fabricate battery cell components by accurately measuring, mixing, and assembling materials to create prototype cells.
Perform disassembly of battery cells to assess internal structures and evaluate performance characteristics.
Conduct performance testing of cells and materials using advanced scientific laboratory instrumentation.
Acquire and manage evaluation data through specialized data acquisition systems.
Verify the accuracy and integrity of data collected during testing and analysis processes.
Contribute to the development and implementation of digital tools aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
Actively support and promote Toyota’s safety protocols, continuous improvement (Kaizen), and 5S workplace organization principles.
What you bring
An Associate degree or higher, or equivalent experience in a related technical field.
Minimum of 1 year of hands-on laboratory evaluation experience.
Minimum of 1 year of experience measuring, mixing with chemicals in a fume hood and glove box environment.
Basic electrical knowledge with wiring, measuring (i.e. Voltmeter), reading diagram.
Beginner level knowledge using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for completing data analysis, graph making and reporting of data.
Willingness to learn, adhere to and implement lab safety procedures.
A safety-first mindset that “all incidents are preventable”.
Willingness to travel 10% of the time and work overtime as required.
Added bonus if you have
An Associate degree or higher, or the equivalent experience in Chemistry or a related technical field.
Experience working with battery lab equipment such as cycling, thermal chamber, ESR, and impedance measurement equipment.
Willingness to promote the “Toyota Way” and a TBP way of thinking.
