The Role:
The Vehicle Dynamics Controls and Software team is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Technical Leader for Driveline to join our innovative group. This critical role will drive the advancement of driveline technologies within our product portfolio, providing technical leadership to a talented team of engineers. The ideal candidate will possess deep chassis domain expertise, a robust background in controls engineering, and exceptional organizational skills. As a key connector between the team and stakeholders, this leader will ensure seamless collaboration and drive the successful integration of cutting-edge technologies into our vehicles, aligning with our mission to deliver superior performance and reliability.
What You’ll do:
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the Vehicle Dynamics Controls and Software team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in driveline engineering.
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced driveline control systems, ensuring alignment with vehicle performance and efficiency goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product/program management, manufacturing, and testing, to define technical requirements and project deliverables.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between the team and key stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Drive the execution of key driveline technologies, overseeing the integration of software and hardware solutions into vehicle platforms.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide expert input on system architecture, control algorithms, and performance optimization for driveline systems.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in chassis and driveline systems, incorporating best practices into team processes.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering skill development in controls engineering, system integration, and problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for driveline systems, maintaining safety and performance benchmarks.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and resolution of technical issues, ensuring robust and reliable driveline performance in production vehicles.
- Contribute to the strategic roadmap for the Vehicle Dynamics Controls and Software team, aligning driveline initiatives with broader organizational objectives.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of professional technical/engineering experience
- Experience with General Chassis Systems/Vehicle Dynamics/Kinematics
- Experience with ASIL D safety systems
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, including independent judgment and decision-making skills, where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
- Ability to effectively communicate issues, status and recommendations to leadership
- Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
- Ability to prioritize work with only limited direction from manager
- This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
- Masters or PhD in Engineering with an emphasis on Controls
- Minimum of 7 years of experience with General Chassis Systems/Vehicle Dynamics/Kinematics
- Minimum of 7 years of experience with ASIL D safety systems
- Experience related to specifying physics of dynamic electromechanical systems (e.g., Brakes, Chassis, Suspension, Electrification, Thermal, etc.)
- Experience with calibration, software, and controls development
- Experience leveraging simulation environments and plant modeling for testing or requirements generation is a plus (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, CarSim, GT-Power, D-Space, ETAS, etc.)
- Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS Next Gen, Jama Connect, Rhapsody, Markdown, Github, codebeamer, etc.)
- Experience with change management tools (e.g., Jira, etc.)
- Experience with OBD regulations requirements
- Experience with safety critical systems
