Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Spring Hill on a full-time basis.
The Role:
In this role, you will maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicate department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues. You will build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management, and understand to consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union. Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment

Participate in the selection of new employees and trains, develops and evaluates salaried and hourly employees, and the development of highly effective teams

Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as lead resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas

Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements

Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods

Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)

Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements

Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :

Practical experience managing process improvement projects.

Extremely high level of analytical ability where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult to determine both Cultural and Methodology improvements.

Highly developed oral and written communications skills.

Very high level of interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with all joint levels of the organization to meet mutual goals required.

Knowledge of and ability to effectively use computer software as it pertains to developing training, presentations and SharePoint.

Ability to manage multiple and difficult projects/assignments with a high level of autonomy and be held accountable for results.

Ability to build relationships and strong teams.

Working knowledge of the National and Local agreements.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

GMS/Lean training or implementation experience.

5+ years overall experience.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Experience utilizing GMS Lean Practices to achieve results.

Ability to read a site and identify key GMS tools and techniques that can be implemented to change both behaviors and business metrics.

Capable of training any of the 5 GMS principles and the supporting elements at multiple levels of the organization.

Shop floor team coaching experience with Business Plan Deployment, Problem Solving, Standardized Work, WPO and Continuous Improvement activities.

Manufacturing GMS experience in various positions, including supervision.

Value Stream Mapping experience.

OpEx or RedX experience.
-
GMS Calibration experience.
