Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. As the EPR Programme Project Controls Lead, you will hold a key leadership position within Amentum’s EPR Programme business. Reporting directly to the EPR Programme Director, you will be responsible for strategically overseeing the development and management of Project Control processes, procedures, and arrangements across the Programme.
This role demands a dynamic leader who can ensure that all aspects of Project Controls, including reporting, financial control, and progress measurement, are effectively coordinated across a diverse portfolio of projects and major frameworks. Your leadership will be critical in driving financial transparency, reporting consistency and performance predictability enabling informed decision-making across the programme.
The Project Controls Lead will also be required to develop and foster a high-performing team and may be asked to take on functional line management of Project Controls specialists who are embedded into the client organisation(s), as a result, supporting the growth and maturity of the wider Project Controls function. Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management
Develop and implement robust cost control systems and procedures.
Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and cost performance metrics.
Analyse cost variances and recommend corrective actions to maintain financial health.
Identify and mitigate financial risks across projects.
Manage the cost implications of change requests and variations, ensuring all changes are assessed, documented, and approved.
Internal Reporting
Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful cost reports tailored to internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, finance, and governance boards.
Design and maintain reporting templates and dashboards using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and internal systems.
Ensure consistency and quality in reporting across all projects and frameworks.
Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial audiences.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of project controls professionals.
Ensure consistent service delivery across all projects and frameworks.
Allocate resources effectively and support team growth through training and coaching.
Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Process & Procedure Development
Design, implement, and continuously improve project controls processes, standards, and procedures.
Drive standardisation and automation of cost control and reporting activities.
Ensure alignment with organisational policies and industry best practices.
Support internal audits and assurance reviews with comprehensive documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
Collaborate with framework management, finance, and corporate functions to ensure data integrity and alignment.
Present financial insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Support change control and risk management processes from a cost perspective.
Here's What You'll Need
Degree in Finance, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in cost control and reporting (internal & external) within a business, project or programme environment.
Proven leadership experience and a track record in process development.
Strong proficiency in Excel and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, SAP, Oracle).
Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial governance.
