Role Definition
The Gas Turbine Start Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the dependable and efficient start-up of gas turbines across diverse operating conditions. This position focuses on performance analysis, diagnostics, and continuous improvement of start-up processes to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to develop solutions that support unattended operation and meet customer expectations. By leveraging field data and reliability engineering principles, the role drives improvements in design, maintenance strategies, and system redundancy. The engineer will also serve as a technical focal point for package system reliability and progressively take ownership of key components and systems.
Responsibilities
- Analyze data and design aspects of Gas Turbine package systems to identify operational improvements.
- Develop engineering solutions to enhance system reliability and turbine performance.
- Recommend component or system modifications to reduce unplanned shutdowns and support remote operations.
- Conduct testing of components and systems to validate design integrity and troubleshoot issues.
- Propose maintenance and replacement schedules to improve long-term reliability.
- Collaborate with SMEs, field engineers, suppliers, and certification teams for component development.
- Document design changes and communicate updates internally and to customers.
- Optimize turbine start-up sequences and parameters for improved reliability.
- Perform stress and performance testing under simulated and actual conditions.
- Diagnose start-up failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Drive fleet-wide reliability improvements through data-driven insights.
- Provide technical leadership during maintenance, overhaul, and customer troubleshooting.
- Develop and execute control system diagnostics using operational data to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system-level issues impacting turbine performance and reliability.
Degree Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 12+ years of applicable experience.

• Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use.
• Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
• Assists in building a complex prototype of product.
