KBR is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our Corporate IT team and oversee the administration, maintenance, and optimization of data systems, including servers, desktops, storage devices, and peripheral equipment. In this role, you will ensure the stability, security, and performance of hardware, software, and operating systems, while managing backups, recovery procedures, and system upgrades. You will work closely with network, security, and support teams to troubleshoot issues, streamline processes, and support business-critical operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize servers, desktops, storage devices, and peripheral equipment to ensure system stability and performance
- Perform OS and software upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance to maintain a secure and up-to-date environment
- Provide hands-on system administration support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues
- Build, configure, and deploy software, hardware enhancements, and infrastructure upgrades
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues across Windows, Linux, and other supported operating systems
- Manage backups, recovery procedures, and system restores to ensure business continuity
- Monitor system performance, proactively identify vulnerabilities, and implement security best practices
- Collaborate with network, security, and IT support teams to support enterprise IT systems and initiatives
- Partner with vendors and third-party support teams to resolve complex technical hardware and software issues
- Provide timely updates and status information to stakeholders to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Contribute to documentation and process improvements to enhance system administration practices and knowledge sharing
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
- Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen. Must have a TS/SCI Clearance with a CI Polygraph or be able to obtain and maintain.
- Certifications: Must have CompTIA Security+ CE, CISSP, or IAW DoD 8570 certifications
Technical Expertise:
- Professional, hands-on experience with Windows and Linux system administration, including Windows Server 2019, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware, and managing storage solutions and backup software
- Proficiency in system upgrades, patch management, and security solutions, including Host-Based Security Systems
- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure architecture, with the ability to evaluate, design, and deploy hardware and software components in complex environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within cross-functional IT teams and serve as a trusted technical liaison to stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in IT systems administration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with COMSEC equipment, including TACLANE KG175 and KG250 Secure Key Loaders
- Familiarity with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and configuring systems for DoD Special Access Programs in accordance with JSIG requirements
- Hands-on experience with machine virtualization, including transitioning legacy products to virtualized environments
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and implementing mitigation strategies
- Knowledge of advanced security practices and compliance standards in a government or defense IT environment
Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation.
