As a Manager, Facility Maintenance Engineering, you will identify and direct complex facility maintenance projects involving multiple trades and provide engineering oversight and project management support for a designated region or area. You will lead a staff responsible for technical facility maintenance services and operations including plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical maintenance, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Engages project management team to develop project plans and ensures that projects are aligned with the standards and overall facility management strategy. Allocates appropriate resources to ensure projects are completed within committed time and budget and are coordinated with other facility projects.
Implements critical engineering strategy and supports existing production environment for assigned sites. Contributes to overall strategic visions and integrates a broad range of ideas about facility maintenance and operations.
Ensures maximum operational efficiency of facilities and equipment through the direction of a technical support staff and the engagement of external contractors, as necessary. Ensures that all utility systems are fully operational and inspected according to preventive maintenance schedules.
Manages a team responsible for the layout, assembly, installation, testing, repair and adjustment of electrical distribution and wire communication systems as well as electrical fixtures, apparatus, equipment and wiring such as motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers.
Leads team responsible for the operation and maintenance of HVAC and life safety systems and mechanical equipment such as air compressors, generators, motors, pumps and cafeteria equipment.
Leads a team responsible for carpentry, masonry and painting functions.
May handle related building and office services functions such as security systems, office layout, moves and mail services.
Manages the development and implementation preventive maintenance and repair programs and procedures for structural, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and/or refrigeration systems. Generates facility maintenance and support policies, standards and procedures.
Identifies current operation and maintenance needs and formalizes and approves operating plans and budgets to increase quality and efficiency within Nationwide’s facilities. Manages the selection of outside contractor services and products to meet facility maintenance objectives.
Leads associates, including performance, engagement, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning and day-to-day administration, hiring and placement and disciplinary actions.
Serves on and/or leads various committees.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/Associate Vice President. Manages a team of 4 or more facilities professionals.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in an engineering field or technical/vocational studies with equivalent work experience.
License/Certification/Designation: Certifications in Level I Vibration Analyst and Thermographer; relevant state hydronics license, state HVAC license and chlorofluorocarbons refrigerant certification is strongly preferred.
Experience: Typically, eight or more years of demonstrated experience in facility maintenance services and operations including plumbing, carpentry/structural, painting, plastering, electrical maintenance, HVAC maintenance and operations, for high rise office buildings and/or data centers. Prior managerial/supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Must have extensive knowledge of facility maintenance and planning methods, programs, practices and procedures; all building, electrical, fire Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), and other federal, state and local codes and laws; financial statement preparation, budgeting and financial analysis concepts and techniques; HVAC mechanical and life safety systems, motor controls, vibration analysis and equipment balancing; all codes, principles and techniques associated with the installation, maintenance, repair and operation of HVAC mechanical systems and devices; and advanced mechanical test equipment. Strong project management and leadership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
