Job Summary and Qualifications
The Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator works in Collaboration with Trauma Medical Director (TMD) and Trauma Program Manager (TPM) to coordinate all Aspects of the Trauma Departments Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program. The Trauma PI Coordinator conducts performance reviews of the continuum of care from the prehospital setting to hospital discharge and determines compliance with patient care practice management guidelines, policies, procedures, and established standards of care. The Trauma PI Coordinator possesses in -depth knowledge of chart abstraction and the trauma registry, including reporting, data analysis, trend identification and benchmarking of outcomes based upon the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma (COT), as well as state and regional standards and recommendations for quality and maintenance for trauma center verification/re-verification and local/State designation.
What you will do in this role:
- Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
- Maintain the Trauma PI database to ensure adequate documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
- Complete concurrent review of cases to identify quality, timelines and systems of care to meet state standards.
- Participate in hospital education programs for nurses and resident physicians caring for trauma patients.
- Serve as a liaison to the clinical areas responsible for trauma patients.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary monthly Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review meetings.
What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree Preferred
- 3+ years experience in Nursing
- 3+ years experience in Trauma Nursing
- Experience in Quality/Performance Improvement
- Experience in Project Management
