What does a successful Application Support Engineer do?
At Fiserv, an Application Support Engineer will, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary Production Support team, be responsible for the deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, automating and maintenance of critical enterprise application platforms in production.
What you will do:
- Perform troubleshooting to lead the path to root cause identification and make recommendations for long-term resolution of problems across the platform. 
-  Make application enhancements and fixes to resolve issues reported by downstream or end users. 
- Support and resolve incidents and problems within the team. Assist with the resolution of complex incidents, demonstrating mastery of problem-solving techniques and processes. 
- Recommend strategies for process and monitor improvements. 
- Perform deep dive application review and provide feedback to enhance the quality of application code artifacts. 
- Collaborating with L2 support, perform data processing and troubleshooting activities. 
- Us strong understanding of end-to-end application support process and escalation procedures to provide effective support in service operation. 
- Create regular status reports using understanding of MTTR (Mean Time To Resolve), MTTA (Mean Time To Acknowledge.) 
What you will need to have:
- 3+ years total engineering, production support and administration or similar experience (Have acted as a prod support/ analyst for at least 3 yrs. 
- Knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, FTP, SFTP, SAMBA, NFS, Boot FS is preferrable. 
- Hands on scripting experience using shell, perl, powershell, python scripting languages for automation purposes. 
What Would Be Great To Have:
- Good understanding of ITIL concepts. ITIL certification is preferable. 
- Experience in working on service delivery process including Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management. 
- Good understanding of Capacity Management and basic understanding of Release Management 
-  Solid experience as application production support Engineer in a 24x7 uptime environment, including automation experience in Unix and Windows environments. 
- Strong understanding of different operating systems like RedHat Linux, AIX, Solaris, SUSE Linux, Windows etc. 
- Understanding of various types of schedulers like UNIX crontab, control-M, Autosys, Windows task scheduler etc. 
- Strong working knowledge on one or more of SQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, MariaDB databases. 
- Good understanding of certificate renewals/installation and certificate management tools (E.g. Venafi.) 
- Experience with log parsing technologies like Splunk, etc. 
- Experience with tools like Dynatrace etc. 
- Basic knowledge of PCF, Kubernetes. 
Important Info About This Role
- We’re better together! This role is fully on-site. 
- This is a full-time, direct-hire position, and no contract options or unsolicited agency submissions will be considered. 
- In order to be considered, you must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without need for visa sponsorship now or in the future. 
- Work Third Shift: 12 AM - 9 AM 
- Each shift includes at least 1 weekend day/evening.
