Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring payroll processing controllership to consistently deliver accurate and timely employee payments. This role plays a key part in maintaining high data integrity through targeted audits and proactive risk identification. The analyst provides timely support to internal and external stakeholders, resolves issues with precision, and contributes to process improvement initiatives across the payroll function.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical proficiency, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning and collaboration. With broad industry and payroll knowledge, systems expertise, and experience, the Payroll Analyst II operates with moderate guidance and is expected to work independently within their area of expertise. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to communicate effectively across teams and regions.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll processes for Costa Rica and other supported countries, ensuring compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Resolve escalated payroll cases using research, system knowledge, and analytical skills.
- Conduct audits to identify risks and prevent issues related to accuracy, timeliness, and production; recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Manage and evaluate payroll transactions through metrics and audits, including complex pay types (e.g., one time payments).
- Serve as a Payroll and Workday Subject Matter Expert, providing guidance and support across regional and global teams.
- Facilitate and support global payroll process performance and controllership, ensuring compliance with SOX controls and other regulatory requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements using tools, automation, and AI-driven solutions.
- Present payroll-related content in group meetings and cross-functional forums as a Payroll SME.
- Conduct training sessions and contribute to the development of payroll documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Develop, analyze, and communicate payroll process metrics and reporting insights.
- Lead and facilitate trend and issue analysis to prioritize and execute process improvement initiatives.
- Perform reporting analysis and risk identification/mitigation activities.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance; flexibility to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
