About your role:
We’re seeking a seasoned Windows Systems Engineer with a passion for solving complex technical challenges and driving automation to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and accuracy. This role is critical to managing change, monitoring performance, and responding to issues across thousands of servers in multiple data centers. You will support a global Windows environment for hosted Fiserv clients, ensuring high availability and performance across physical and virtual infrastructures. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute large-scale deployments, troubleshoot system issues, and automate routine tasks.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and support Windows operating systems across thousands of servers in multiple data centers.
- Troubleshoot issues related to OS, storage, networking, and performance in a complex Windows environment.
- Perform capacity management and adjust system resources (CPU, memory, disk) as needed.
- Install, uninstall, and troubleshoot third-party software programmatically across large server fleets.
- Develop automation scripts using PowerShell or Python to streamline operational tasks.
- Monitor system health and respond to alerts to ensure maximum uptime.
- Utilize tools such as Service Point, SailPoint, Splunk, and App Map for ticketing, reporting, and change management.
- Participate in planning and execution of complex infrastructure changes and deployments.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- 5+ years of enterprise systems engineering experience with hands-on expertise in: Windows Server OS (2008–2022), Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Failover Clustering, IIS, SSL Certificates, Perfmon, Wireshark, VMware and vSphere
- 3+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with storage, backup, and networking technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business and/or equivalent military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills; able to interact professionally with internal clients, managers, engineers, and vendors.
- Solid understanding of ITIL practices including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with strong composure and crisis-management skills.
How you'll work:
- This role requires being on-call during non-standard and/or overnight hours on a rotational basis.
- This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
