Description:You will be a Systems Engineer for the R&D team that investigates and exploits the newest technological advances to solve complex, mission‑critical problems.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Systems Engineer, you will design, integrate, and validate system‑level solutions that address challenging technical problems. You’ll work closely with customers, software and hardware engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the development life‑cycle to ensure the resulting architecture meets performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Architectural design: Define system concepts, high‑level architectures, and functional decomposition for emerging technologies.
- Requirements engineering: Elicit, analyze, and manage stakeholder requirements; translate them into clear, verifiable system specifications.
- Integration & verification: Lead integration of subsystems, develop test plans, and oversee verification activities to demonstrate compliance with requirements.
- Technical liaison: Collaborate with customers, product managers, and cross‑functional engineers to ensure solutions are aligned with mission goals and user needs.
- Risk & trade‑space analysis: Conduct trade studies, assess technical risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Continuous improvement: Contribute to a culture of innovation, creativity, and teamwork; mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
- Adaptability: Quickly respond to evolving customer requirements and shifting project priorities while maintaining a focus on system performance and reliability.

Eligibility
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - The selected candidate must possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility to start.
Basic Qualifications:
- Active TS clearance with SCI elegability required prior to start.
- Systems‑Engineering expertise: MBSE (SysML/MATLAB‑Simulink), architecture definition, integration & verification (HIL/SIL), trade‑space & risk analysis.
- Project‑management fundamentals: schedule development (MS Project/Primavera/JIRA), cost estimating, Earned‑Value Management, risk‑based decision making.
- Tool & platform proficiency: configuration‑management (Git/Subversion), collaboration/document control (Confluence/SharePoint), simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, STK – preferred).
- Communication & teamwork: clear technical/non‑technical written/oral communication, multidisciplinary collaboration, facilitation of design reviews and briefings.
Desired Skills:
- Agile / Lean development experience – Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe for rapid iteration and delivery.
- Leadership & mentorship – Proven ability to coach junior engineers, lead design reviews, and drive cross‑functional collaboration.
- Data‑driven decision making – Proficiency with Python, R, SQL, or Tableau for analysis, visualization, and automated reporting.
- DevOps / CI‑CD expertise – Experience building automated build, test, and deployment pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Cloud computing familiarity – Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud services.
- Professional certifications – PMP, INCOSE Systems Engineering, or similar credentials.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
