Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time, but the general expectation is that the employee be on-site an average of three (3) days each week if they are located within 50 miles of a Global Technical Center in Warren MI, Austin TX, or Sunnyvale CA.

The Role:
We are seeking a new generation of visionaries to help launch bold Design initiatives, and shape new directions for General Motors. As a Design Intern, you will get to work with a team to design for the next generation of in-vehicle experiences.

Collaborate closely with team members and cross functional teams to craft a premier user experience across all our products and platforms

Balance user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives to solve problems effectively

Develop production interaction design following design guidelines

Create design deliverables to communicate your work including sketches, drawings, mockups, animations, and prototypes

Release production spec and assets to software engineering teams
-
Present work to peers and leadership
-
Work with product teams and engineers to execute user interface designs as a flawless part of the overall user experience, advocating aesthetics and visual design principles

Participate in design critiques to guide design decisions

Required Qualifications :

Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in one of the following areas: User Experience Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or similar

Must be graduating between Dec 2026 – May 2028

Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week

Start Dates

The salary range for this role is $5,300 - $5,900, dependent upon class status and degree.

GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2026 Student Program.
