Position Overview
Applications Engineers are the primary technical resource for the field sales force and are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Applications Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to ensures complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Applications Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains expert level of product knowledge and applications.
- Articulates technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
- Uses knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators. Identifies product development needs
- Responds to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
- Researches and builds relationships with new customers to strategically align the company product development.
- Listens, understands, and conveys customer requirements.
- Identifies customers’ needs and sales opportunities to help future growth
- Performs technical/product training for both sales representatives and customers at targeted accounts.
- Maintains accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases
- Identifies potential customers, and the decision makers within the customer’s organization
- Coordinates and supports industry functions, Trade Shows and conferences and provides feedback and information on market and competitive assessments.
- Resolves customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives
- Supports forecasting, for both monthly and annual planning
- Supports domestic and international sales representatives with switch inquiries
- Independently generates pricing for custom switch opportunities and foster collaborative relationship with engineering to support new opportunities
- Provides input monthly for business development report
- Leads technical customer engagements independently from initial pre-RFQ stage to post-delivery field support
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- 1-5 years of Engineering experience
- Must be U.S. Citizen
- Strong product knowledge and technical competency
- Read architectural, mechanical and electrical blueprints and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical specifications
- Must be able to manage competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Must possess strong communication skills including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to work with challenging customers and make sound decisions
- Ability to identify problems and provide recommendations/solutions proactively
- Willing to put in extra effort/time to complete the assignment and ensure the customer is satisfied
- Ability to execute an action plan/task and achieve the objectives with minimum supervision
- Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in Microsoft Visio and SolidWorks
- A solid understanding of network communications technology – Internet, Intranet, VPN, TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc.
- Strong communication, Interpersonal, organizational skills and presentation skills
- Available for Travel up to 25%

Work Arrangement : Onsite
Pay Range: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually
Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
