The Boeing Defense Systems Space & Launch Engineering Division is seeking a Senior Ground & Mission Systems (G&MS) Engineering Manager to assist in the leadership of Satellite Systems G&MS development and operations teams based in Colorado Springs, CO.
As a G&MS Senior Manager and Leader you will have the opportunity to manage and integrate employee and manager activities across the organization. G&MS consists of teams of engineers and analysts with diverse backgrounds and skill levels developing key ground technology solutions for a variety of proprietary and DOD programs supporting the Government Satellite Systems (GSS) organization and Commercial Satellite Systems (CSS) organizations.
In this role, you will be the primary interface to GSS and CSS programs and represent G&MS in executive leadership exchanges. The G&MS Senior Manager assists as local G&MS Colorado Site focal for resource, engineering, and site management and establishes and maintains senior customer relationships as well as partnerships with stakeholders, peers, and partners. In addition, you will coordinate with G&MS ground capabilities and associated product owners to develop and refine the ground capability road map alignment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in the leadership of the G&MS Organization to ensure successful GSS and CSS programs mission execution while assuring operational integration across all G&MS programs and projects, proper personnel staffing, and assignments.
- Build and maintain senior customer and Boeing leadership communication battle rhythms.
- Monitor and manage G&MS performance across all programs, resolve technical and program issues, and control configurations.
- Assist in the leadership strategic planning to ensure product growth; support, staff, and manage new business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a team of inspired leaders to grow the skills/capabilities of the organization.
- Provide direct management and technical oversight of engineering, technical approaches, and processes.
- Manage all staffing needs, determine critical skills, forecast, and obtain and manage personnel, facilities, services, equipment, and tools.
- Champion employee recognition, increase employee satisfaction, and ensure workplace safety.
- Create and implement ground engineering strategies and processes.
- Provide coaching, counseling, mentoring, and providing developmental opportunities for employees.
- Execute critical program staffing and redeployment activities.
- Develop and execute talent management activities, training, and development plans.
- Developing employee engagement activities to motivate and engage the workforce.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- 10+ years of engineering experience or 10+ years of experience in program management of technical programs for aerospace or other engineering business areas.
- 5+ years of experience leading or managing projects that involved cross-functional or cross-business unit teams.
- Experience with systems engineering or software development on space-based or ground-based systems.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience in ground system design, development, or test.
- Experience with systems engineering processes.
- Proven experience in executive-level communication and presentations.
- Experience managing programs that deliver results within budget, on schedule, and to performance requirements.
- Experience using engineering structured processes and developing and managing program plans to meet organization objectives within the allocated budget and schedule.
- Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.
- Master of Science in an engineering discipline.
- Previous management experience.
- Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
- Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.
- Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams.
- Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
- Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders, and helping underperforming members.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $178,500 - $241,500
