Job Summary
The Ground Power / Generator Mechanic supports the maintenance and readiness of mission-critical power generation systems for U.S. Air Force operations at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. This role is responsible for the inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fixed and mobile diesel generators, auxiliary power units (APUs), load banks, and related control systems.
The mechanic ensures all equipment operates reliably to support airfield operations, emergency response, and facility power requirements in compliance with U.S. Air Force Instructions (AFIs), OEM guidelines, Host-Nation regulations, and health, safety, and environmental standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, servicing, and scheduled PMs on generators ranging from small tactical units to large stationary power systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, and control system faults.
- Perform load bank testing to verify generator performance and capacity.
- Ensure readiness of standby and emergency generators for critical mission facilities such as airfield lighting, navigation aids, communication systems, and medical or life-safety infrastructure.
- Monitor fuel levels, perform minor fuel tank maintenance, and coordinate with fueling teams.
- Respond to emergency power outages, support corrective maintenance after-hours as required, and participate in on-call rotations.
- Adhere to U.S. Air Force CE Playbook guidelines, OEM specifications, Host-Nation (HN) regulations, and environmental requirements for fuel handling, spill prevention, and hazardous waste management.
- Ensure compliance with electrical and mechanical safety standards (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, confined-space entry, PPE use).
- Maintain accurate service logs, test reports, and parts usage documentation in accordance with PWS requirements.
- Work closely with Power Production leadership, Electrical Systems teams, and Operations Control to minimize downtime.
- Provide technical support and mentoring to less experienced technicians.
- Participate in cross-training within related trades such as barrier and aircraft arresting systems maintenance as directed.
Basic Qualifications
- Turkish Citizen Required.
- All male candidates must have completed military service.
- Turkish citizenship or valid work authorization in Turkey.
- High school diploma or equivalent technical/vocational training certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of diesel-powered generators (10 kVA – 1 MVA range).
- Knowledge of electrical distribution, control circuits, and mechanical power systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
- Basic proficiency in English for technical communication and recordkeeping.
- Physically able to lift up to 30 kg, work in confined spaces, and perform duties in varying environmental conditions.
- Valid Turkish B-class driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Systems Technology.
- Experience working in an aerospace or military environment.
- Knowledge of aircraft arresting systems and their maintenance procedures.
- Experience working on Caterpillar, Cummins, or equivalent generator sets with modern digital control panels (e.g., EMCP, Deep Sea, or ComAp).
- Certification in Diesel Engine Maintenance, Electrical Safety (LOTO), or HVAC/Powertrain troubleshooting.
- Intermediate English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Familiarity with aircraft arresting systems or willingness to undergo specialized training.
- Prior experience supporting military or mission-critical generator operations.
All positions require the applicant to obtain and pass a medical physical that is certified by a doctor.
All positions require a current and favorable Turkish Security background check.
