We are seeking a highly motivated Bioanalytical Scientist to join the Bioanalytical Group within Global Preclinical Development, based in Rahway, New Jersey. This role is ideal for an experienced bioanalytical professional with a strong background in ligand binding assays (LBA) and GLP laboratory operations. The successful candidate will independently develop and validate assays, prepare detailed reports, and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure high-quality analytical support for preclinical and clinical studies. This position requires regular travel between Rahway, NJ and West Point, PA sites.
Responsibilities
• Independently develop, optimize, and troubleshoot ligand binding assay (LBA) methods to support bioanalytical projects, ensuring method quality and efficiency.
• Write bioanalytical methods and assume project responsibility for delegated bioanalytical aspects.
• Implement LBAs for biological sample analysis in a GLP environment, including sample preparation, instrument setup, data processing, and interpretation.
• Establish LBA capabilities within the team, including equipment selection, laboratory setup, and workflow design.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, compliant, and maintained in real-time per GLP and departmental standards.
• Prepare independent reports for sample analysis and validation, and assemble regulatory submission documentation.
• Maintain compliance with all company and departmental SOPs, safety, and training requirements.
• Meet short-term goals and timelines with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Drug Safety, Metabolism, Quality Assurance, and Program Management.
• Perform additional bioanalytical assignments as directed by management while demonstrating strong multitasking and teamwork skills.
Education
• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline with 3 years of industrial experience, or
• M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline with at least 7 years of industrial experience, preferably in a bioanalytical laboratory.
Experience
• Proven experience developing, validating, and implementing ligand binding assays under GLP.
• Proficiency in Watson or other LIMS systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• (Preferred) Experience with LC-MS/MS assay development and analysis.
• (Preferred) Demonstrated motivation to learn, grow, and develop within a scientific team environment.
Additional Information
• Primary location: Rahway, NJ, with travel required between Rahway and West Point, PA (up to 20%).
• The role is hands-on within a GLP bioanalytical laboratory environment.
