Title:
DG BOSS: Heavy Equipment Operator (FN)
- Responsible for operating equipment operation work in the Integral Solid Waste Management Department.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Operates heavy equipment safely and proficiently in solid waste collection, disposal, handling, and transport, including but not limited to compactor truck, backhoe, front-end loader, baler, skid steer loader, forklift, etc.
- Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned vehicles or equipment.
- Performs pre-service maintenance checks and indicates findings on the form.
- Records malfunctions of other items requiring attention as observed during the working day.
- When not operating equipment, an employee is expected to take the initiative in assisting in the manual and technical aspects of the solid waste activities including solid waste refuse and recyclable materials collection, sorting, segregation, incineration, and disposal.
- Performs other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- Operators of automotive vehicles/equipment shall be fully qualified and licensed IAW NAVFAC P-300, 49 CFR Chapter III Part 383 (COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE STANDARDS; REQUIREMENTS AND PENALTIES) and Part 391 (QUALIFICATIONS OF DRIVERS AND LONGER COMBINATION VEHICLE (LCV) DRIVER INSTRUCTORS) for the type and class of equipment operated and/or type of load transported. Current applicable licenses shall be in the possession of the Contractor operators during all periods of equipment operation.
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of heavy construction equipment.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and preventive safety measures of working in a landfill and operating heavy equipment.
- Be able to speak English or the prevailing local language and should be able to write essential words in English or the prevailing language in the area of operation.
- Be able to read and understand signs and orders applicable to the operation of the equipment.
- Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
- Must have a valid county of origin driver's license and can operate assigned heavy equipment and vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications

- Must be fully qualified and capable of being certified IAW NAVFAC P-300.

- Back Hoe
- Dozer
- Excavator
- Grader
- Loader
- Refuse Truck
- Roller
- Scraper
- Skid Steer
- Sweeper
- Transit Mixer Truck
- Off-highway Truck, Trailer & Tractor
- Manlift/Aerial Platform
EDUCATION:
- Must have at least a high school diploma is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience as a Heavy or Construction Equipment Operator and in-plant operations.
