Caterpillar Peterlee is the worldwide source of Cat® Articulated Trucks, currently producing an 8-model range used in many industries including mining, construction and aggregates. The facility's manufacturing activities use the latest computer analysis techniques, robotic technology and automated dump body paint plant. Machines from the site are shipped to customers around the world.
The Opportunity
This role leverages Lean Six Sigma methodologies to design and lead a robust risk and compliance framework. The primary objective is to enhance compliance maturity and organisational resilience by proactively identifying inherent risk and implement effective management controls.
This includes close collaboration with RI Compliance, Process Owners, and senior leadership to drive data-informed insights and apply change management strategies that deliver sustainable solutions. These efforts contribute to reducing operational risk, improving process reliability, and ensuring adherence to both internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Using Lean Six Sigma methodologies, design and lead Rapid Improvement workshops with end-to-end process owners to quantify compliance risk and collaboratively develop a governed and timely remediation plan.
Conduct planned and ad-hoc risk assessments to evaluate process health, identify deficiencies, and support Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives to support the business in sustainable compliance improvement.
Lead and manage end-to-end project plans from initiation through to delivery to ensure timely execution, high-quality outcomes, and strong team engagement.
Provide coaching to process owners in adopting tools such as Self-assessment, RACI charts, Process maps, quality gates and standard operating procedures.
Lead mandatory compliance governance forums with key stakeholders and senior leadership.
Manage the entire Caterpillar Internal Audit Advisory Service audit cycle from preparation, fieldwork, remediation, and certification ensuring timely and sustainable improvement.
Develop and monitor process indicators, KPI’s and Obeya principles to promote compliance performance and cross functional alignment.
Present out findings and updates to large groups which include VP level.
Degree Requirement
Degree or equivalent experience desired
Skills, experience & qualifications you will have.
Proven SOx practitioner with cross-functional awareness across Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Purchasing, ESG, EH&S, Security and Data Privacy as a minimum.
Experience in auditing, self-assessment and Gemba.
Demonstrated project and change management capabilities including emotional intelligence and human organisational awareness.
Proficient analytical skills, metric development collation and governance.
Effective leadership with the ability to inspire cross functional teams towards strategic goals.
Green belt trained and familiar with quality improvement tools such as Pareto, Defects per Unit, Fishbone diagrams and Functional Deployment Maps.
Experience in leading and managing deficiency remediation and certification.
Proficient in risk identification and risk mitigation strategies.
Demonstrates ethical leadership by fostering a culture of integrity and accountability, handling sensitive documents with discretion, and consistently respecting privacy and confidentiality in alignment with professional ethical standards.
Ability to explain complex deficiencies in clear, simple terms.
