Title:
DG BOSS: Incinerator Operator (FN)
Responsible for the daily operations of the incinerator units by observing conveyor operations and monitoring lights, dials, and gauges to maintain specified operating levels and detect equipment malfunctions.
- Duties include removal of ash from the incinerator, bales from the bailer, glass from the pulverizer, the aluminum package from the condenser, wood, and placement into an air curtain, and moving pallets around with a forklift and other equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Performs safely various solid waste activities including solid waste refuse and recyclable materials collection, sorting, incineration, and disposal.
- Operates solid waste processing equipment at the SWMC, including, but not limited to packaged incinerators, glass pulverizers, can densifiers, sludge burners, tire cutters, mulchers, chippers, and balers.
- Record production data such as weights, types, quantities, and storage locations of materials, as well as equipment performance problems and downtime.
- Load, unload, or adjust materials or products on conveyors by hand, by using lifts, hoists, and scoops, or by opening gates, chutes, or hoppers
- Stop equipment or machinery and clear jams, using poles, bars, and hand tools, or remove damaged materials from conveyors.
- Coordinates with other staff members to ensure the proper functioning of the incineration plant.
- Must be able to detect incinerator problems and complete electronic reports using a tablet record system.
- Performs other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in some situations. PPE includes but is not limited to, the head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations policies.
- Must speak, read, and understand the English language.
- Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
- Must have a valid host nation driver's license and can operate assigned vehicles and equipment (truck, forklift, etc.) as required.
Preferred Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING
- An incinerator operations certificate is highly desired.
EDUCATION:
- Must be at least a high school graduate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have at least two (2) years in the operation, maintenance, and repair of Incinerator.
