The Body Controls Calibration and System Testing Team is looking for a Body Electronics System Test Engineer/cal engineer to join our organization! Our area is rapidly growing and is being transformed due to the adoption of software defined architecture. In Body electronics system test space, we calibrate and validate different customer facing features in functional areas like Vehicle Access, occupant Protection, Cabin Comfort, Exterior and Interior Lighting, etc. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in future technologies GM is introducing in Body electronics/Mechatronics space.
The Body Controls Calibration and System Test Engineer will:
- Lead technical solutions across calibration, and system test for body controls.
- Create, manage, and complete Body electronics software feature/system/solution validation plans (Behavior Test specification etc.)
- Follow best practices and develop procedures to calibrate systems to meet product goals, and program timing with quality.
- Develop and release Body Controls Calibrations for deployment to GM Vehicle Programs.
- Lead/Support Calibration Reviews.
- Develop test methodologies to support new technology launch.
- Lead test automation development and execution for relevant body controls products.
- Lead and execute certification relevant activities for body electronics software features.
- Collect data using advanced test equipment.
- Analyze, review results and document failures via PRTS, Jira etc.
- Author validation reports (CG190 etc.)
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (PI planning, DSU etc.)
- Support issue root cause analysis and resolution.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Lead system test issue resolution initiatives
- Identify and document calibration vulnerabilities; track corrective actions.
- Lead best practices and process improvement initiatives.
- Support regulatory and compliance relevant activities for body electronics software features.
- Support program team reviews and demos.
- Maintain communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, treat safety as the top priority and lead by example during all work activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with proven technical and professional skills in Engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer/software engineering, or Computer Science
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in programming/scripting (Python etc.)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Test automation framework (Autobot, Autoval etc.)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in performing testing in multiple test environments (HIL, Vehicle, Virtual).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Software Integration testing/System Integration testing and/or Feature testing and/or Calibration.
- Valid US Driver License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in electrical/computer/software engineering
- Experience with vehicle and bench validation at component or subsystem level
- Experience with in-vehicle calibration including use of tools (ETAS/INCA, Intrepid, etc.) for data acquisition and analysis.
- Experience with data logging tools (Vehicle Spy, CANALYZER Tools etc.)
- Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) process and familiarity with Gherkin.
- Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Jira and other configuration management, version control and code quality tools.
- Experience debugging software/electrical/HW issues
- Working knowledge of embedded software development using C/Matlab/Simulink and associated tools (Jira, DOORS, Rhapsody, etc.)
- Quick to learn, ambitious, and willing to work hands-on with GM's vehicles and benches.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal direction.
