About your role:
The Cyber Data Management team at Fiserv designs and maintains the data architecture that enables effective detection, investigation, and protection across security telemetry and cyber analytics. You will partner with cybersecurity analysts and data scientists to build scalable data models and pipelines that improve visibility, reduce risk, and support incident response and threat intelligence. The role focuses on turning security data into reliable, governed assets for enterprise risk reduction.
What you’ll do:
- Design, implement, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support cybersecurity telemetry, threat analytics, and incident response use cases.
- Translate business and security requirements into scalable data architecture, metadata standards, and model-driven ingestion patterns.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, data engineering, and cloud teams to ensure secure, reliable data transmission, storage, and querying.
- Implement data quality, lineage, and governance practices to improve trust and usability of security datasets.
- Evaluate and refactor existing schemas and pipelines to optimize performance, reduce risk exposure, and lower operational cost.
- Integrate security requirements into data models, including data classification, masking, and access controls.
- Mentor engineers and analysts on modeling best practices and support definition of reusable patterns for security data.
- Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- 6+ years of experience in data modeling and data architecture, including conceptual/logical/physical modeling, dimensional modeling, and metadata management.
- 5+ years of experience with cloud data platforms and data warehousing (Google BigQuery, Snowflake, or AWS Redshift).
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity data domains, including SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk), security telemetry, and data protection controls aligned with NIST or PCI DSS.
- 4+ years of experience in SQL and relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- 4+ years of experience in data integration and ETL tools (Talend, Informatica, or Apache NiFi).
- 4+ years of experience in scripting and data processing with Python (pandas, APIs).
- 4+ years of experience using data modeling and visualization tools (ERwin, PowerDesigner, Visio, Power BI).
- 6 months of Fiserv systems experience.
- 4+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience collaborating directly with incident response, threat intelligence, and SOC teams to operationalize data models for alerts and playbooks.
- Hands-on experience with Axonius or other asset management platforms for security-data enrichment.
- Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), CISSP, or GIAC that bridge data and security disciplines.
- Experience implementing data governance programs and tools (data cataloging, stewardship, lineage) in regulated environments (GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience tuning query performance and cost management on BigQuery or Snowflake for high-volume telemetry.
