Generator Mechanic
The Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated Generator Mechanic to join our team at the Equipment Support Facility. Reporting to the Spares and Repair Manager, you will play a pivotal role in inspecting equipment returning from loan and ensuring Portable Electrical Generation equipment meets safety standards for field reuse. Your responsibilities will include producing survey reports, conducting maintenance and servicing, providing technical support to other trades, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Complete Generator Maintenance and Servicing within contracted timeframes
Provide technical advice and support to other trades regarding fault investigation and generator-related matters
Conduct training and mentoring of apprentices
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, COSHH, Engineering Hygiene, Risk Assessments, and safe working practices in a hazardous environment
Undertake any other reasonable tasks aligned with your knowledge, experience, and position
Recognised and accredited trade qualifications of City & Guilds standards or above
Proficient in fault finding and diagnostic abilities on both mechanical and electrical components
Understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), service targets, objectives, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices
Excellent communication skills
Competent computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, MS Teams), and the ability to learn new software systems
Proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities
Capable of completing essential paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
The role is based full time on site at out Equipment Support Facility in Swindon, Wiltshire.
