Job Summary:
The Human Resources Manager specializing in Labor Relations plays a pivotal role in implementing HR strategies that directly support organizational objectives, with a strong emphasis on fostering productive labor relationships, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and cultivating a positive work environment. This leader delivers expert guidance on HR policies and labor practices, driving employee engagement and development while proactively addressing labor issues.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic advisor to management, identifying, prioritizing, and executing labor relations initiatives that align with the organization's goals and enhance workplace harmony.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve HR policies and programs within the business unit or region, with a particular focus on promoting healthy labor relations, employee engagement, retention, and performance.
- Act as a trusted coach for leaders and managers on all labor-related matters, including performance management, compensation, benefits, grievance handling, and collective bargaining.
- Analyze labor-related HR metrics and data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing clear, data-driven recommendations to senior management for proactive labor relations management.
- Lead and develop a team of HR professionals dedicated to labor relations, ensuring effective collaboration with other HR Centers of Excellence and establishing the function as a thought leader in labor relations practices.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Fluent English
Top Candidates also have:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Certification in Labor Relations, Conflict Resolution, Law or related to the field.
Skills:
- Labor Relations Expertise: Extensive knowledge of labor law, employee relations best practices, collective bargaining processes, grievance management, and disciplinary action. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain productive relationships with employees, unions, and management.
- Business Acumen: Deep understanding of organizational strategy and business operations, with the ability to integrate labor relations considerations into decision-making and planning.
- Global Perspective: Awareness of international labor trends, legal frameworks, and cultural nuances affecting labor relations. Ability to adapt labor strategies to diverse regulatory environments.
- Organizational Knowledge: Strong understanding of the organization's mission, vision, culture, and structure, and the ability to align labor relations initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Skilled in analyzing complex labor issues, weighing risks and benefits, and making informed, balanced decisions using data and sound judgment.
- Influencing and Negotiation: Proficient in using effective influencing tactics, persuasive communication, and negotiation strategies to resolve labor disputes and foster positive employee relations.
- Talent Management: Experience in attracting, developing, and retaining talent within the context of labor relations, including recognizing high-potential employees and supporting their growth.
