Boeing Global Enterprise Services (BGES) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Interpreter-Translator at Boeing Korea.
Job Description:
This position will be responsible for using expertise in Korean and English to enable the success of Boeing Korea and its business partners. The statement of work (SOW) will include both spoken interpretation and document translation. The Interpreter-Translator reports directly to the BGES Korea manager in Seoul.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Follow guidance and the internationally established code of ethics for translators/interpreters: maintain the strictest confidentiality, professional conduct, competence, professional development, remain impartial, and accurately convey messages without intentionally adding or deleting content
Translate documents and communications and provide language interpretation during meetings, teleconferences, reviews, events, training sessions, etc.
Confer with writers, company team members, business partners, external customers, and other technical experts to ensure that the technical accuracy and the intended meaning of the communication are clearly conveyed.
Develop suggestions and recommended solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refer to policies, procedures, and practices for guidance, or develop solutions to a variety of complex problems by referring to established precedents and policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a major in Translation or English from an accredited university.
Native-level written and oral communication skills in Korean and fluency in English, with proficiency in both languages.
Ability to interpret for Boeing executives and translate both aviation-related and general documents between Korean and English.
5-7 years or more of interpretation and translation experience at a multinational company; experience in the aviation manufacturing industry would be a plus.
Critical thinking skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Ability to prioritize tasks and apply appropriate judgment to change priorities as needed.
Proficiency in using document translation software and expertise with office computing systems and software for text editing, presentations, web browsing, and email, including the MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Projects).
Self-motivated and able to work under general supervision without close oversight. Willing to work under pressure, either as part of a team or independently.
Interest in the commercial aviation, defense, and science/technology industries.
Ability to travel, sometimes on short notice.
