Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
Role Purpose:
The Coordinator, Docketing will support trademark and IP-related deadlines within the Brands and Content IP team. They will bring strong analytical and communication skills to help the legal team proactively identify, present and discuss IP challenges. They are detail-oriented and attentive, with excellent organizational and proofreading capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Enter critical dates and deadlines into the docketing system to maintain accurate and up-to-date records
- Analyze, extract and record data from legal documentation
- Review correspondence to determine whether any deadlines need to be docketed, and manage original documents by saving, scanning and filing as needed
- Help process invoices by coding and researching payment statuses
- Record and gather evidence for prosecution and enforcement matters
- Prepare reports and contribute to team projects, while also supporting various operational needs and other duties as assigned
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion regarding all matters and documents
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as docketing clerk and/or equivalent experience, preferably with exposure to the trademark practice area
- Familiarity with domestic and foreign trademark practice and procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and trademark docketing systems (Anaqua preferred, or others like WebTMS, CPI, PATTSY or FoundationIP)
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
Desired Characteristics:
- Proficiency with trademark, litigation or general intellectual property practice preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team player
- Demonstrates initiative in driving results and tracking performance outcomes
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively with a large volume of work
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the Universal City, CA office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning Monday, January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will move to a four-day in-office work schedule.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement and a variety of other discounts and perks.
