What does a successful DFS Application Support Specialist do at Fiserv?
We ensure the availability, reliability and operational excellence of Digital Financial Services — including BillPay, eBilling, CheckFree and our Azure‑based products — by triaging and resolving customer‑impacting incidents, maintaining end‑to‑end application and cloud health, and partnering with engineering and product teams to prevent recurrence.
What you’ll do:
- Provide hands‑on administration and support across Unix/Linux and Windows environments—patches, upgrades, configuration, security, queries, release deployments, DR planning and system tuning to keep production stable.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting and automation (Splunk, SiteScope, Dynatrace, custom scripts), define KPIs and notify teams for rapid detection and remediation.
- Own day‑to‑day production integrity and 24x7 incident response—triage outages, resolve issues, perform root‑cause analysis and recommend performance, capacity and scaling improvements to meet SLAs.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product and Client Services to validate operational readiness of changes, integrate customer needs and implement long‑term fixes.
- Analyze code and alerts, document runbooks and findings, and work independently or in teams to drive continuous improvement in reliability and performance.
What you will need to have:
- 15+ years in application development, support and production support with full life‑cycle delivery in technology‑driven environments (preferably financial services/banking); proven experience with multi‑tier architectures and troubleshooting production apps (Apache, WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss).
- Strong UNIX/Linux/Windows administration, Java support, shell scripting and Oracle operations; experience with .NET/Windows/IIS, SOAP & REST APIs, networking/private endpoints, and writing Splunk queries to build dashboards and alerts.
- Hands‑on Azure experience (Function Apps, App Service, Cosmos DB, Azure DevOps), a bias for automation, and the ability to work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams to deploy and scale resilient solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
What would be nice to have:
- Linux system administration — manage and troubleshoot Linux systems and services and develop Bash scripts to automate operational tasks and incident remediation.
- Networking expertise — apply routing, switching and network troubleshooting skills to resolve connectivity, performance and private endpoint issues.
- Agile collaboration & tooling — operate in Agile teams using JIRA, Confluence, Wiki and ServiceNow to track work, document runbooks and manage incidents.
