Job Description As DevOps Team Leader, you will drive automation, reliability, and scalability across Opayo’s high-volume payment platforms. This role ensures seamless delivery of applications through Development, Test, and Production environments using modern Continuous Delivery practices. Operating in a 24/7, mission-critical environment, you will lead a team focused on maintaining system resilience, accelerating deployments, and enabling innovation. Key Responsibilities Operational Excellence: Maintain and support Opayo applications (Payments In/Out) using advanced monitoring tools and custom scripts. Proactively detect, troubleshoot, and resolve issues to meet stringent SLAs. Technical Leadership: Remain hands-on (approx. 80% technical) while guiding team priorities and workload. Act as the primary technical escalation point and shape technology strategy. Drive adoption of modern DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated patching. Team Leadership & Development: Set clear objectives, review progress, and manage performance. Recruit, mentor, and upskill engineers to build a high-performing, collaborative team. Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Strategic Influence: Partner with Development, Infrastructure, and Security teams to align DevOps initiatives with organisational goals. Champion automation and modernisation to reduce risk and accelerate delivery. Essential Skills & Experience Strong hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash). Expertise in monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog). Proven experience with automation/configuration tools (Jenkins, Gitlab and ArgoCD). Background in high-availability, high-transaction production environments. Experience managing and developing technical teams. Preferred: Knowledge of payment gateway technologies and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS). Qualifications Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience. Key Metrics Maintain system uptime in line with SLAs. Ensure all releases follow defined CI/CD processes. Active participation in on-call rotation.
