What does a successful Application Support Advisor do at Fiserv?
As an Application Support Advisor at Fiserv, we keep Tandem (HP NonStop) production and non‑production systems healthy by implementing core processing configurations and code releases, developing support utilities, and automating monitoring and alerts. We lead the on‑call rotation and business continuity efforts, troubleshoot escalated incidents, and collaborate with implementation, systems, development teams, clients and vendors — requiring strong scripting skills, DevOps and multi‑tier application support knowledge (Linux/Unix familiarity a plus).
What you will do:
- Provide 24x7 rotating on‑call support for Tandem/EPOC production and non‑production systems, resolving escalated SEV incidents that impact transaction and authorization processing and Card Services (Card Valet, Rule Manager, Falcon, EMV, NTT, APIs).
- Troubleshoot multi‑tier environments and respond to Service Point requests—execute ad‑hoc queries, manage change/incident/problem tasks, and address batch transmissions and job scheduling to ensure timely delivery to financial institutions.
- Act as an SME to make critical configuration changes (EPOC Switch, auth path, ACCEL Network) and support code/patch deployments, fallbacks and post‑deployment validation with Change and Release Management.
- Build and maintain monitoring scripts and automated alerts, review performance and capacity, and recommend enhancements to prevent and detect issues proactively.
- Serve as the cross‑functional point of contact between STAR, EPOC, CPT/DTs and other teams—coordinate maintenance, network triage during SEV events, represent Debit Support on projects, and provide independent analysis and recommendations.
What you will need to have:
- 7+ years of IT experience in development or operations support with hands‑on Tandem/HP NonStop experience and exposure to payment processing (debit card/ATM).
- Practical expertise with core Tandem tools and integrations (Pathway, TEdit, Peruse, Enform, TACL, Netbatch, SCUP, NDM, Spooler) and backend technologies (Oracle/GoldenGate, SFTP, EMV, risk/fraud solutions).
- Experience in Agile/DevOps environments, solid understanding of TCP/IP, ability to build dashboards/monitoring (Splunk/AppDynamics/ExtraHop a plus), strong analytical/problem‑solving skills, and availability for off‑hours/weekends and 24x7 on‑call.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, equivalent formal technical training, or a minimum of 5 years supporting transaction processing, internet applications, or internet banking.
What would be nice to have:
- 7+ years’ experience with Tandem/NonStop systems and/or development plus 5+ years supporting services, micro‑services and n‑tier architectures.
- 5+ years’ experience with software automation technologies and exposure to automated testing, with a willingness to implement and expand automation.
- Willingness to learn and maintain legacy applications and support ongoing transition/maintenance activities.
