The Role
General Motors is seeking a recognized technical leader to serve as Architect – Active Chassis/Thermal Integration , responsible for developing and strategically integrating advanced chassis thermal systems and software technologies. This role is pivotal in architecting cross-functional direction for new technology insertion, ensuring GM remains at the forefront of innovation in vehicle dynamics, performance, and efficiency. You will collaborate with Software & Services, Propulsion, Brakes, Driveline, Thermal, and Systems Engineering teams, as well as external experts, to deliver solutions that reduce cost and mass while enhancing vehicle capability.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain a roadmap for advanced chassis/thermal technology insertion across GM.
- Align software and hardware strategies to enable seamless integration and resource planning.
- Lead initiatives such as steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and thermal control strategies for optimized performance.
- Serve as the central integration point across Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Software & Services, and Manufacturing.
- Drive alignment of subsystem strategies to balance performance, cost, and integration requirements.
- Act as liaison between product managers and technical teams to ensure clarity in hardware/software strategies.
- Define and refine the V-model for hardware/software integration and lead strategic technical meetings.
- Represent GM in industry forums and collaborate with external partners to integrate emerging technologies.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 7+ years of experience in hardware or controlled systems (Driveline, Brake, Steering, or Propulsion).
- Expertise in chassis systems integration and thermal management technologies.
- Strong understanding of software/hardware co-development and validation processes.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and manage complex projects.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying technical concepts to leadership and peers.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in propulsion, driveline, brake, or steering development.
- Prior roles as Engineering Technical Leader (ETL), Technical Specialist, or Architect or equivalent.
- Background in software development, controls, calibration, or diagnostics.
- Familiarity with SAFe/Agile methodologies and enterprise-level planning.
- Recognized technical contributions through patents or publications.
- DFSS Master Black Belt Certification.
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
