The Role:
The Paint Process Engineer position is a fast-paced manufacturing engineering position in which you will work with paint robots, circulation systems, air handlers and ovens. The Arlington Paint Process Engineer is responsible for auditing and validating all processes required for painting GM’s full-sized SUVs.
Process Engineers’ day-to-day activities include working with technicians troubleshooting processing concerns, analyzing quality trends, modifying painting and baking recipes, programming robots and many other rewarding engineering changes. The Process Engineer is also responsible for supervising a small group of process technicians.
What You'll Do: (Responsibilities):
- Maintain of SFMEA’s, PFMEA’s and Control Plans. Analyze, develop, process, and implement Engineering Changes
- Utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W). Able to resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions.
- Statistical Process Control and its application
- Employee development including mentoring, training, and evaluation of employees
- Project Management
- Troubleshoot process improvement needs as well as root cause identification of equipment procedures
- Work with plant process teams in development and continuous improvement of paint process
Your Skills & Abilities: ( Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience
- 3yrs experience automotive manufacturing
- Ability to work all shift (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
- Ability to work OT and weekends
- Experience commissioning and/or operating manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Demonstrated oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrate high level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with medium level of autonomy and high accountability for results (may work under the direction of a senior process engineer).
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 5+ Years of experience in manufacturing (robotic or paint processes)
- Knowledge and experience with effective implementation of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) principles and methods
- Fundamental understanding of the entire automotive painting process (phosphate, electrophoretic deposition, sealing, robotically applied painting).
- Experience with FANUC Paint and Sealer Robots; P-200, P-500, P-700, P-1000, S-500, M-710, M-720iA, M-2000, M-20iA.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical prints.
- Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable
- Experience with automation simulation software; Paint Pro, Handling Pro, etc.
