The Role:
In this role, you will partner in the execution of business plans for manufacturing operations and will be responsible in providing support to help those operations achieve BPD plans and important metric objectives. The role expectations also includes strategic and innovative thinking to look ahead and develop manufacturing operational framework strategies for the future. Work is of a high-level, technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS and standardized launch processes - focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment. You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems, and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations.
What You'll Do: (Responsibilities):
- Partner with Shop Directors and GPS sites to drive improvement in business performance metrics including Safety, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environmental Metrics.
- Achieve budget goals
- Lead through guiding GMS operating requirements
- Function as a GMS calibrator and support GMS calibrations across GMNA
- Collaborate closely with other departments within and outside of the manufacturing team, particularly manufacturing engineering
- Maintains corporate and unit management control systems, budget and other information necessary to monitor performance
- Assist in the forecasting of areas of responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to company policies and procedures and upholds GM's vision, values, and cultural behaviors.
- Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment.
SCOPE AND IMPACT:
- Develops, plans, and owns the delivery of critical Key Performance Indicators and Key Strategic Initiatives that directly impact function results and support GM business strategy. Supports Shop Directors on the development and implementation of strategic plans and objectives. Is fully accountable for delivery of complete operational plans and their effectiveness.
- Provides longer-term perspective to and often leads critical projects with cross-functional visibility and impact. They shape major organization wide initiatives and serve as an indirect leader within their function.
- Champions large-scale change management and role models GM’s behaviors necessary to maintain a productive team without inhibiting individuality and personal diversity.
- Their contributions influence the organization's strategic direction and vision and are critical to the business' future success. Their impact goes well beyond their own function.
Your Skills & Abilities: ( Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent operations experience
- 5+ years of experience of Propulsion System processes in the automotive manufacturing industry
- Functional Knowledge in Tableau; Power BI; PM&C; Downtime Reporting Tools
- Perform data analysis to establish shop metrics and tackle complex problems.
- Work directly with production in implementing lean manufacturing.
- Analyze throughput data to help departments improve performance
- Demonstrated problem solving and communications capability, communicate and provide strategic data analysis, solid organizational and follow-up skills.
- Coach and implement productivity and throughput improvement for the plant.
- Project management and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects
- Highly proficient in using MS Office suite of tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project) to produce professional written communication, such as reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Ability to travel 40% of the time or higher based on business needs domestically and/or internationally.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's Degree in Engineering/Business Administration
- 7+ years of experience of Global Propulsion System processes in the automotive manufacturing industry.
- New Products Launch experience.
