The Opportunity
The Resource Industries segment at Caterpillar is seeking a Risk & Compliance Senior Associate with an accounting or finance background to provide support for the Resource Industries business partners. Compliance support includes Controls (documentation, testing, SOX support, & Control Board reporting), Compliance Councils, Audit Issue Sharing, various Lean projects and process enhancements.
The Risk and Compliance Senior Associate will have a comprehensive understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures. This position performs complex analysis work, identifies problems and mitigates risks. They will demonstrate knowledge and ability to handle issues independently.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Development and maintenance of internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control documentation
Provide strong leadership and independence in reviewing findings, monitors and validates action plans, and ensures sustainable solutions are implemented.
Support compliance activities and inventory counting services.
Facilitate SOX testing and audits (internal & external) including outsourced accounting activities
Support Control Board Meetings and Compliance Councils with participation from facility top management team.
Monitors compliance performance and recommends priorities and actions for improvement.
Collaborates with employees and supervisors to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
Performs compliance assessments and supports compliance audits.
Degree requirement
4-year Degree preferably in Accounting or Finance or 1-3 years of job-related experience desirable
Skills, experience & qualifications you will have.
Risk Management: Level Working Knowledge
Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds.
Ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
Audit and Compliance Function: Level Basic Understanding
Effective Communications: Level Working Knowledge
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours.
Process Management: Level Working Knowledge
Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
