Amentum is seeking a Linux Administrator, Senior to join our team of passionate individuals in Hanover, MD. In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nation’s security and intelligence mission.
Our contract supports more than 12 efforts with varying levels of hardware and software development requirements. Our projects are focused on front end equipment configuration/maintenance, back-end repositories, front end dashboards, as well as everything in between for the full data processing thread.
Our teams can range from one to two developers to a team of 12. All of our teams work right alongside our customer to discuss requirements, identify solutions, and choose the way forward for implementation. As part of an engineering office, our customer and our workforce look and plan for future expectations- continuously trying to stay ahead of the next challenge.
Responsibilities:
This Senior Linux administrator position will provide candidates with a chance to work on system security plan efforts: patching, reviewing vulnerabilities, and ensuring accreditation needs are addressed. In addition, this position will allow the candidate to monitor and support load balance needs, datamining requirements, support a migration to new operating system, and creating and using SPLUNK dashboards for customer leadership to use.
Candidates will also: Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology Systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process. Configures and manages Linux operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
- Review security scan results, provides necessary updates directly to resolve security vulnerabilities or works with other applications and efforts to resolve vulnerabilities.
- Works with customer’s necessary to review System Security Plan accreditation and re-accreditation requirements.
- Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems
- Provides support for hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
- Configures and manages Linux operating system and installs
- Creates bash shell scripts to aid in system stability and deployment repeatability
- Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
- Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems
- Optimizes system operations and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning.
- Provides detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers for escalated tickets.
- Loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components.
Requirements:
- Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI and Poly
- At least 9 years of Linux Administration experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline, or an additional 4 years of experience. Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project and Visio
- Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
Clearance Required:
- Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI and poly

- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or an additional four (4) years of experience.
